Host and Social Media Lead,
Pop Up Conversations
Lameese Smaili
Lameese is an Edmonton-based radio news anchor and storyteller, heard on 880 CHED/Global News Edmonton. Alongside anchoring, she is a radio host and social media lead for Pop Up Conversations with the Make! Studios, where she interviews Canadian artists, exploring their creative processes, inspirations, and the stories behind their work. Her path into broadcasting was unconventional. She spent over a decade teaching English in the mountains of Lebanon, where she developed a passion for documenting human stories, particularly the stories of Syrian refugees. Back in Canada, she trained at NAIT’s Radio and Television program and co-hosted Film Score Vault, a radio show focused on movie soundtracks. Today, Lameese believes the most compelling stories are the ones that connect us, spark understanding, and give voice to experiences that might otherwise go unheard. She approaches every story with curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to meaningful connection.

Producer and Sound Engineer
Illwill
William Okafor, professionally known as illwill, is a multifaceted Nigerian rapper, producer, and sound engineer who blends technical precision with raw creative energy. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos and Sound Production from the SAE Institute in Cape Town, illwill bridges the gap between scientific discipline and musical artistry. His journey began in 2009 with the debut single "Let’s Go" featuring Ms. Chief, followed by the reflective 2010 release "My Life." A cornerstone of the progressive collective The Roots Muvment, illwill has spent over a decade refining his craft. His prolific output includes the critically acclaimed The illternative EP (2013), over 10 instrumental beat tapes, and various high-profile remixes. In 2019, he solidified his status in the industry with his debut studio album, The Goodwill of illwill, a 10-track project featuring collaborations with Clay, Paybac, Pelli, and Muno. Beyond the microphone, illwill is a sought-after audio engineer specializing in mixing, live sound, and voice-over production. Whether he is dropping hard-hitting singles like "You Get Mouth" or engineering for others, his objective remains constant: creating resonant, high-fidelity music that strikes a chord with every listener.
